The sewellia lineolata is originally from vietnam. Here they live in fast flowing rivers with small waterfalls. This water has high oxygen levels which these fish somewhat desire. Although some successes have been reported of spontaneous culture we are still largely dependent on wild caught species of these animals.
The Sewellia Lineolata is a peaceful fish that is not aggressive towards other fish. Amongst their own species, they would defend their territory but without casualties. They are found throughout the tank looking for algae and other foods. The cannot really swim, they float with small shocks. The greater part of the day they crawl on the ground, plants or the glass in search of food.
In the aquarium, we must ensure that algae is available on stones and sufficient water movement so there is always enough oxygen. Furthermore, they are omnivores who mainly live on the leftovers and algae. We must keep in mind that they indeed get enough food and the other residents steal their food away. Tablets and dry food are tasty but they also like small frozen foods as daphnia and cyclops.
