The clown loach has been a popular aquarium fish because of its beautiful colors. The body is orange / brown with black bands and the fins are deep red. As the fish grow older colors may slightly fade.
These fish do like the company of their own species to feel at ease and some shelters in the aquarium for them to hide. Clown loach are easily kept at a menu of dry food and the occasional earthworm or bloodworms but actually they eat almost anything they encounter which fits their mouth. They can also be used as good snail eaters.
What not many people know is that loaches have a thorn underneath their eye which they can use to defend themselves or to prevent them from being eaten by predators.
The availability and size are highly seasonal.
